Do I need to be artistic or know how to paint?
No, not at all. Our paintings are simple enough for a beginner to follow along. During the course of the event, the instructor will walk through to make sure everyone is on track.
How do I attend an event?
Go to our website and sign-up on our Calendar page, choose a painting and sign-up. Pay with a debit or credit card. As we often sell out, please do not wait until the day of the event to sign up.
What does my ticket include?
We provide aprons, paint, brushes, easels, a 16 x 20 canvas and 2 – 2.5 hours of guided instructions. Refreshments & alcohol are NOT included but can be purchased from most of our event venues separately. Our events in our Cortland art studio are BYOB. Please check individual event ticket page for more information. All events are recommended for teens and adults unless otherwise specified (some take place in bars).
Are your events BYOB?
Yes and No. Please do not bring your own alcohol to an event held in a bar or restaurant as it’s against their insurance policies and NYS liquor laws. If an event takes place at a venue that does not serve alcohol we will mention if BYOB is allowed in the class description on the calendar. Only our events in our Cortland art studio are BYOB (openers, glasses and refrigeration are provided). Please check individual event ticket page for more information.
Can we bring food?
Yes and No. Food is allowed ONLY for events in our Cortland studio (we can also recommend and coordinate local catering for private parties!). Some events are held in restaurants where outside food is not allowed and must be purchased separately from the venue. Please check individual event ticket page for more information.
Do you accept walk ins?
We do NOT encourage drop-ins for events so please reserve your seats in advance. Because seating is limited and we often sell out, it is recommended that you sign up in advance in order to reserve your seat. You can register and pay online by clicking onto the “Calendar” tab from our website. From the visual calendar you can click onto the class which will bring you to the registration form (scroll down). If you would prefer to pay in cash at an event, please email us or call us at (607) 345-7628 to reserve your seats.
What is your cancellation policy?
Because of our wait list, we require a 24 hour cancellation notice to reschedule you for another event or issue a full refund. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the event you are scheduled for, and number of tickets needing refund within 24 hours of the event. No call/no shows will not be rescheduled or refunded. We will charge the event fee for reservations not cancelled 24 hours in advance, this includes cancellations due to inclement weather. (Please keep an eye on the weather & cancel in advance if your area is expecting dangerous travel conditions.)
*In the event of dangerous travel conditions due to weather, Instant Artist may cancel the event at any time…in this case ticket holders will be notified via email and refunded.
*Events are subject to cancellation without a minimum of 10 attendees for public events and 15 attendees for fundraisers. Cancellations are rare and customers will be notified via email of cancelled classes. This includes sudden changes due to a high number of customer cancellations.
I bought a Groupon or Living Social, now what?
Simply register for the event you wish to attend by going to the Calendar/ and enter the voucher number in the “Enter Voucher code:” field of the registration page. Please note that discount vouchers are only valid for public events and not for Private Parties or Fundraisers. Discount vouchers can only be refunded through contacting Groupon or Living Social directly.
If I come with a friend or a group of friends, can we sit together?
Finding a seat at an event is a first come first serve basis. Please note that we cannot guarantee that all members of a group will be able to sit together due to occasional limitations to the size of tables we can fit within certain areas. We suggest arriving early to find and claim your best seats or text 607-345-7628 at least 4 hours prior to event start time so we can reserve an entire section for a large group.
What should I wear?
We are working with acrylic paint which is water based and does wash off your hands and other areas quickly with soap and water. Once paint is dry, it doesn’t typically come out of most materials so please consider this. There is a chance that you may get paint on those areas that are not covered by our aprons so please consider your clothes wisely.
Can I change or paint something different that what’s being demonstrated?
Yes! We encourage experimenting and getting creative with your painting! If you have a vision– we have the tools! Please keep in mind that assistance with your work of art can be limited with larger groups.
What time do I need to arrive for a session?
Plan on arriving one half hour before the event starts to allow time to find a seat, grab a drink or order a bite to eat. Instructions will begin promptly and the event typically runs about 2 to 2.5 hours.
