No, not at all. All of our projects are simple enough for a beginner to follow along. During the course of the event, the instructor will walk through to make sure everyone is on track.
Go to our website and sign-up on our Calendar page, click on the event you’d like to attend and sign-up online. Pay with a debit or credit card. As we often sell out, please do not wait until the day of the event to sign up.
We provide aprons, paint, brushes, easels, all materials to complete your project and guided instructions. Refreshments & alcohol are NOT included but can be BYOB or purchased from most of our event venues separately. Our events in our Cortland art studio are BYOB. Please check individual event ticket page for more information. All events are recommended for teens and adults unless otherwise specified (some take place in bars).
Yes and No. Please do not bring your own alcohol to an event held in a bar or restaurant as it’s against their insurance policies and NYS liquor laws. If an event takes place at a venue that does not serve alcohol we will mention if BYOB is allowed in the class description on the calendar. Only our events in our Cortland art studio are BYOB (openers, glasses and refrigeration are provided). Please check individual event ticket page for more information.
Yes and No. Food is allowed ONLY for events in our Cortland studio (space is limited so please keep it small). Some events are held in restaurants where outside food is not allowed and must be purchased separately from the venue. Please check individual event ticket page for more information.
Yes and No. If you feel your child is able to complete the painting and can sit for about 2 hours then they may attend. We recommend ages 10 and up. Parental supervision is required. Keep in mind we want Instant Artist to be a place adults can go to relax and be themselves without having to censor themselves. Best to find child-care for babies and toddlers and smaller children unless it’s a child specific event for their age.
So that we can ensure you have the best experience, we require that you register and pay prior to class. All tickets must be purchased ahead of time on-line or you may call and make payment over the phone, if needed. If you need to make arrangement to pay cash ahead of time, please call 607-345-7628.
Tipping is not required and certainly not expected. However, if you feel the instructor is doing a great job, by all means, feel free to show your appreciation. Tipping jars will be available.
Simply register for the event you wish to attend by going to the Calendar and enter the voucher number in the PROMO field of the registration page. Contact us if the field is not available to discuss price difference options.
Finding a seat at an event is a first come first serve basis. Please note that we cannot guarantee that all members of a group will be able to sit together due to occasional limitations to the size of tables we can fit within certain areas. We suggest arriving early to find and claim your best seats or text 607-345-7628 at least 4 hours prior to event start time so we can reserve an entire section for a large group.
We are working with acrylic paint which is water based and does wash off your hands and other areas quickly with soap and water. Once paint is dry, it doesn’t typically come out of most materials so please consider this. There is a chance that you may get paint on those areas that are not covered by our aprons so please consider your clothes wisely.
Yes! We encourage experimenting and getting creative with your painting! If you have a vision– we have the tools! Please keep in mind that assistance with your work of art can be limited with larger groups.
Plan on arriving at least 20 minutes before the event starts to allow time to find a seat, get settled, open or order a drink or a bite to eat. Instructions will begin promptly and the event typically runs about 2 to 2.5 hours.
